- It's dishes served to Barack Obama's girls at Sidwell Friends School in Washington DC. Meanwhile, Bush Snr and Jnr, Clinton, Carter and Obama ate from the daily menu at the White House's Navy-run staff restaurant (specialities include steaks, burgers and spaghetti marinara).
- It's John Lewis, thanks in large part to Waitrose. Clothing chain New Look and Sainbury's also reporting improved sales. There was, however, a raft of less than buoyant sales figures.
